Orhun Aydin, Ph.D., discusses the challenges and rewards of collecting large amounts of spatial data in order to answer questions and find solutions across a variety of disciplines. He opens by showcasing the massive amounts of spatial data created daily and the forecasted exponential increase of this data over time. He then discusses the aim of spatial data sciences, providing examples of student research projects as well as predictions made using spatial data, and introduces the SSCI 575: Spatial Data Science course.
