M.S. in Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST) alumnus Christopher Marder talks about the technical expertise gained in the master’s program and connections gained being part of the Trojan Family. He highlights his experience as an intern and promotion to GIS technician with the San Bernardino Transportation Authority. Marder discusses his thesis “The Role of Precision in Spatial Narratives: Using a Modified Discourse Quality Index to Measure the Quality of Deliberative Spatial Data,” which won first place at the internal 2019 M.S. GIST Thesis Prize competition and was published by the International Journal of Humanities and Arts Computing. He details his career aspirations of melding his government background with GIS, influencing public policy with a spatial science perspective.
