Darren Ruddell, Ph.D., presents on GIST research and practice in natural disaster relief. He highlights the increasing number and cost of extreme weather events, along with the importance of knowing the behavior of these events, where they occur and why. Ruddell discusses the role GIS plays in helping us better prepare to mitigate negative effects and promote recovery, including geodesign.
Then, M.S. in Human Security and Geospatial Intelligence and Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Intelligence alumna Elin Henningsson shares why she chose to complete her graduate education at USC, her experience blending the master’s program with full-time work and the hands-on project experience she received in the Human Security and Disaster Management course.
